Second Novitiate of the Marist Order

Blenheim has been selected as the centre for the second novitiate of the Marist Order of the province of New Zealand. In accordance with that appointment some six priests have arrived from various parts of New Zealand to take up their quarters in the local Catholic presbytery. The second novitiate provides for a spiritual Retreat with a continuation of theological and philosophical studies over a period of six months for members of the Order and ordained priests for ten years. A considerable number of priests will retire to Blenheim in succession, and the novitiate will extend over some five years.
