(From our own correspondent.) July 19. In the schools' football competition the Marist senior and .junior teams are well in the lead. Both teams have come through the first round without a defeat and feel confident of annexing the championships in their respective grades.

•Tho Marist Brothers’ Old Boys are pleasing their supporters by their improved form and the spirit in which they play the game. They are steadily climbing into position. On Saturday they defeated the Railway Club by 20 to 8. '

The Athletics in the Wednesday competition are now in the running for the Galbraith Shield. In the last match they defeated Star (tho leading team) by 5 points to 3 alter a very strenuous* 1 game in which the “Greens’ forwards more than held' their own.

Ihe Stations of the Cross are now nearly ready for erection in St. Mary’s. They are handsome examples of the painter’s art, are beautifully framed, and should suit the church excellently. Most of the Stations have been donated, but if there arc any persons desirous of erecting one, application should now be made..

The penny collection for the support of the boys’ school, started by the Hibernian Society just three years ago, has proved a, very great success. The* total amount received to date is £BB2 18s lid, an average of £5 13s 2d a week. This sum represents 211,907 pennies or 1658 pennies per week. The disbursements amount to £738 13s, leaving a bank balance of £144 5s Id. The Hibernian Society, Mr. Pat Condon and his devoted staff of collectors, and the parishioners generally are to he congratulated on the success of their efforts on behalf of Catholic education.
