WEDDING BELLS
MacMILLAN— . A very popular and pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Joseph's ' Cathedral, Dunedin, on Thursday, February 5, 1920, when Miss Marjorie Lemong only, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Lemon, of Dunedin, was married to Mr. Lindsay Gordon MacMillan, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander MacMillan, of Dunedin. The Very Rev. Father Coffey, Adm., officiated, assisted by the llev. Father Kaveney. Mr. Vallis presided at the organ and played the incidental music, concluding with the "Wedding March." There was a very large assembly to witness the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, was charmingly attired in a white satin and georgette gown, the bodice and sleeves being beautifully embroidered with seed pearls. The long satin train lined with pale blue was draped from the right shoulder in a new and very attractive manner. The bridal veil was of handembroidered tulle gathered into a small mob cap which made a quaint and pretty finish to the picture. The flowers carried by the bride were white lilies and roses in the form of a shower-bouquet. The bridesmaids, four in number, were each attired in dainty crepe de Chine and
georgette dresses of different shades and carried large shower-bouquets, and the whole effect was most picturesque. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a diamond ring, and the bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a gold watchchain. Each bridesmaid was presented by the bridegroom with a jewelled brooch. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Lemon held a reception at the Savoy. The bride’s travelling dress was of putty-colored gaberdine with a salmon crepe do Chine blouse, and she wore a hat in which these colors were prettily blended and a white cape of marabout feathers. The bride and bridegroom, who were the recipients of many valuable presents, left by the south express for their honeymoon, which they purpose spending in a tour of the Lakes district.
