CHURCH OF ST. ROCH, HANKER SPRINGS To all I wish a happy Christmas. How often, as this holy season came round, wo meditated on the birth of the Divine Child. When so doing we have often wished that it might have been our privilege to have lived on earth in those days, so as to have been able to administer to Him, to have supplied His wants, and to give Him a home. How sincere was our sympathy, how fully persuaded we were that we would have done all in our power to help Him in His pressing needs. What a joy to us to lay our greatest treasure at His feet —no sacrifice would be too great, no gift too 'valuable. So we have often thought and declared, but are these meaningless sentiments? We can put the matter to the test this coming Christmas. At Hanmcr Springs Our Divine Lord wants a Home, a Bethlehem, a Calvary. Like the Magi, offer Him the gold of your contribution to St. Roch’s, the frankincense of gratitude, and the myrrh of humble sorrow. I am now making a final dash for the goal. Only a little is required to reach it. May the Divine Child bless you and your children. I beg to acknowledge the following donations: — £2, Mrs. A. J. Farrell (Hinds) ; £1 Is, M. K. Twohill (Thames); IDs each, Mrs. O’Connor (Palmerston North), Miss Maggie Halpin (Dunedin) ; 5s each, Fermoy (Port Ahuriri), Mary Brophy (Geraldine), Hopeful Client of St. Roch (Lawrence), Miss A.
