WEDDING BELLS
. ' 'O’KEEFE—LEHRKE. . - A. pretty wedding took place on Thursday, October 16, at St. Joseph’s Church, Eltham, the contracting l parties being Mr. .Frank. O’Keefe (recently . returned from , the Front), son of Mr. Patrick O’Keefe, and Miss' Annie Monica Lehrke, fourth daughter of Mr. Frank Lehrke, J.P., of Eltham. A Nuptial Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father Arkwright. The altar was tastefully decorated, and sacred selections were played during the Mass by the organist (Mrs. O’Hagan). The bride, who was given away by "her father, was charmingly attired in a . gown of crepe de Chine, with silk trimmings; she iwore the usual bridal veil and wreath, and carried a lovely bouquet of spring flowers and niaidenheir fern. She was attended by; her sister, Miss Frances Lehrke,, as bridesmaid, and two nieces as flower-girls, wearing dainty white dresses and black hats. The bridesmaid carried a shower bouquet of sipring flowers, and the nieces baskets of flowers. 1 Mr. Gerald Payne—a returned soldier— best man. After the ceremony . a reception was held at the residence of,, the bride’s parents. There were '6O guests present, amongst them being the Mayor (Mr. G. W. Taller) and Rev. Father Arkwright. At the wedding breakfast the ’usual toasts Were' honored. Subsequently the happy couple left for Wellington en route to Nelson and Napier. The bride’s travelling dress was .a , beautiful grey "gabardine;costume with black* hat. The bridegroom’s pre■sent to the bride was a gold neck chain with pendant, and f ,to .-.the, bridesmaid a gold brooch, set with diamonds. The wedding presents were 'numerous ' and costly;c and included several ' cheques.
