Waimate

(From our own correspondent.) July 23. A concert and social in aid of the Federation scholarship fund was held at Morven on the evening of July 10. The programme presented, under the direction of Mrs. N. D. Mangos, was contributed to by Christ-church and Timaru artists, and was greatly appreciated. A very old resident of Waimate, in the person of Mrs. H. Toohers, passed away on July 9. The deceased, who was eighty years of age, was born in King's County, Ireland, and arrived in New Zealand sixty years ago. She leaves three children to mourn their loss.— P.

Mrs. J. Haimifiii, another old resident, who has been living in Waimate for the past thirty-five years, died on Friday, July 18. The late Mrs. Haimifiii was a native of Kerry, Ireland. Deep sympathy is extended to her three children, who are bereaved of am affectionate and devoted mother. —R.l.P.
