ROLL OF HONOR

PRIVATE M. J. COUNIHAN. The military funeral of the late Private M. J. Counihan took place at the Oainaru Cemetery on Wednesday, February 5. The late soldier was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Counihan, North Road, Oamaru, and was 29 years of age. He returned to Port Chalmers by the hospital ship Marama on Friday, January 31, and his death occurred at Dunedin on the following Sunday. The body was brought from Dunedin and conveyed on a gun-carriage to the barracks, and thence to the cemetery. There was a large number of returned soldiers present, including a firing party, under Sergt.-Major Hay man, and the cortege was headed by the 10th x Regimental Band, under Bandmaster H. C. Fox. An impressive service was conducted by Father O'Connell at the cemetery. The three' volleys were fired over the grave, and Bandmaster Fox sounded the 'Last Post."—R.l.P. ;: : ''
