Darfield

Very deep regret was felt in Darfield and district when it became known that Cyril, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. W. P, Nolan, of Coalgate, had passed away at the early age of 11 years 8 months (writes a correspondent). Born at Mosgiel, he was afterwards one of the first boarders at St. Thomas' Academy of the Dominican Nuns, Oamaru. From the age of seven years he was a devoted and attentive altar boy. Heart trouble supervening on rheumaticc fever was the cause of his death, which occurred on Wednesday, October 9. Rev. J. Hanrahan, rector of Darfield, celebrated a Requiem Mass for the repose of the deceased on Saturday morning, October 12, at which the children of the Convent School sang appropriate hymns. The interment took place in the Darfield Catholic Cemetery.—R.l.P.
