ST. MARY’S ICON VENT, PONSONBY, - ; AUCKLAND. Wednesday, August 21, being the anniversary of the consecration of his Lordship the Bishop, the Right Rev. H. W. Cleary, D.D., the pupils of St. Mary’S High School offered their congratulations. His Lordship visited the school in the afternoon and granted the pupils a half-holiday in order to prepare for a sale of work in aid of the Red Cross funds, which was held onthe following Saturday afternoon. The goods on sale included plain and ‘fancy needlework, paintings, produce of every description. Toys, sweets, and flowers were tastefully displayed in prettily decorated stalls. Nicely arranged tearooms were capably attended to, and were well patronised. Musical selections efficiently played greatly enhanced the enjoyment of the proceedings. The function realised the satisfactory amount of £SB 19s 3d.
