Wanganui

The following are the results of the theory examination of pupils of the Sacred Heart Convent, Wanganui, in connection with the Associated Board, held on June 1: —Local centre, rudiments, one: grammar of music. Division 111., one; grammar of music, vision 11., five. All the pupils presented passed. In the first match of the second round for the Rugby football championship the Marist Old Boys’ team of the Wanganui Boys’ Guild met and defeated Karerae by 8 points to 3. Both teams had scored equally until this match. Now the Marists by their win are leading by two points in the competition. The game was very strenuous throughout, the Marist forwards playing with great dash and determination. Whilst the whole team played well, special mention is deserved of the fine work of Somers (wing forward), Quirke (2), P. Hogan, and Corliss (full back). Mutu scored the two tries for Marists, Somers converting one.
