The San Francisco Chronicle of April 12 publishes the following telegram from its Washington correspondent : - 1 “ The Catholic a rein bishops of the United States and the National Catholic War Council, meeting here to-day, approved a nation-wide campaign at an opportune time for funds to aid the War Council in its varied activities. War Councils were suggested for every diocese to assist local authorities in preserving deceint camp environments, caring for soldiers on fum lough, and, providing amusements for them within the camps.” Attending the sessions were Cardinals Gibbons and Fariey (of New York), O’Connell (of Boston), Archbishops Glennon (of St. Louis), Christie (of Port™d ’’)> Hanna (of San Francisco), and Mundelein (ot Chicago). Bishop McCort represented the archdiocese of Philadelphia.
