YOUNG MEN’S CLUB, PONSONBY, AUCKLAND

A well-attended meeting of Catholic young men of the Ponsonby parish, Auckland, was held on Sunday evening, March 3, after devotions, for the purpose of forming a senior club. Judging by the enthusiasm shown by those who responded to the notices sent, out by the organiser (Mr. A. J. Wills'), this club promises to develop into a very strong institution for bringing our Catholic young men together. Mr. T. E. Murphy was voted chairman of the meeting, and after addressing the gathering re the objects of the club he moved that the Sacred Heart Young Men’s Club be formed, the following being classed as the founders:—Messrs. T. E. Murphy, T. Bourke, J. O’Connor, V. Lonergan, E. Finnegan, R. Stewart,. C. Clarke, R. Dunne, L. Righton, and A. J. Wills. The motion was carried unanimously. It was decided to have an election, of officers on the following Sunday.
