Through the indefatigable i energy of the Rev. Father Lynch, the Sisters of the Mission will be able to take over a very fine property of about one acre, adjoining the church .property, recently acquired at a cost of £IOOO. On the property is a large residence that will be converted into a convent. ; On December 15 the Hibernian Cricket Team met and defeated the Normal School Old Boys at Eden Park. Normal's first innings produced 63, second innings, 50, main credit being due to the bowling of J. Scholium, who in the first innings took five wickets for 23. and in the second innings four wickets for 6. The Hibernians scored the fine total of 169 for one wicket (J. Tubberty 80 not out, L. Righton 76 not out), thus winning by an innings and 56 runs—a three point win. The position now is. that the Hibernians lead in the competition by a good margin. On Sunday last at St. Patrick's Cathedral, the ordination to the priesthood of the Rev. George Colgan took place in the presence of a very large congregation. The impressive ceremony was conducted by his Lordship Dr. Cleary, Bishop of Auckland, who was celebrant of the Mass. The Very Rev. Chancellor Holbrook was master of ceremonies, assisted by the Rev. Father o'M_alley. The newly-ordained priest was at-

Buxton, a fellow student. On Monday morning Father Colgan celebrated his first Mass at the Sisters of Mercy’s Orphanage, Takapuna, at which were present the Rev. Fathers Holbrook, Patterson, Furlong, about twenty Sisters, family, relations, and a large congregation of friends. After Mass, Father Colgan was presented with a very handsome preaching stole, the presentation being made by the Rev. Father Patterson.
