HIBERNIAN SOCIETY, CHRISTCHURCH

ST. PATRICK'S BRANCH. The half-yearly meeting of St. Patrick's branch H.A.C.B. Society was held in the Hibernian Hall on Monday, January 14. Bro. J. Jacques, 8.P./presided, and there was a large attendance. P.P. Bro. J. Flannelly having gone into camp, the district deputy, Bro. R. P. O'Shaughnessy. assisted the president. Rev. Father Long (chaplain) was also present. Sick pay amounting to £3 10s, and accounts £8 16s were passed for payment. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Bro. J. Jacques: vice-president, Bro. J. M. Coffey ; secretary, Bro. M. Grimes ; treasurer, Bro. W. P. Daly; warden, Bro. H. Nevin ; guardian, Bro. T. O'Rourke; sick visitors, Bros. McCormack and O'Toole; auditors, Bros. McGarty and E. J. Wall assistant secretary, Bro. M. Mannix ; delegates to U.F.S. Dispensary, Bros. M. Grimes and G. Dobbs ; delegates U.F.S. Council, Bro. M. Grimes ; delegates Catholic Federation, Bros. M. Grimes, and M. Mannix : delegates to • U.F.S. Benevolent Association, Bro. J. McCormick and M. J. O'Connor.. The committees in connection with the. hall and judicial business were elected and Drs. McKinnon, Ardagh. Pairmain, and Temple returned as medical attendants. Bro. R. O'Shaughnessy then installed the various officers, each of whom returned thanks for the confidence placed in them by their fellow-members.

ST. MARY'S BRANCH. The half-yearly meeting of St. Mary's branch H..A.C.8. Society, was held in Ozanam Lodge, on Monday, January 7. Bro. P. Gunn, 8.P., presided, and there was a fair.attendance. One member ; was granted his clearance and two proposals for membership were received. Accounts amounting to £2 -16 s. 6d were passed for payment. The election of officers for the ensuing term resulted as follows:—President, Bro. A. J. Ormandy: vice-president, Bro. H. O'Connor; treasurer, Bro. W. J. S. Moir;- warden, Bro. J. O'Connor; guardian, Bro. R. Hampton: sick visitors, Bros. A. J. Ormandy and H. O'Connor; auditors, Bros. R. P. O'Shaughnessy and T. Y. Wagstaff ; delegate to U.F.S. Dispensary, Bro. J. H. Johnston; delegate to U.F.S. Council, Bro. J. V. Kaveney; delegate* to U.F.S. Benevolent Association, Bro. H. O'Connor. The officers were duly installed by the Very Rev. Dean Regnault, S.M. (a past president of the society, and a life honorary member of St. Mary's branch). The Very Rev. Dean gave some' good advice to the newly-elected officers, and exhorted members to do their best to attend the meetings and to be loyal to the officers who were conducting the business? of the lodge for.them.
