Ranfurly
Realising the need of a motor car for the use of the pastor of the district, a fund was started some time ago in Ranfurly and Naseby to attain that object. It was one that evidently appealed to the parishioners, as generous subscriptions were received from almost every householder (writes a correspondent). A committee consisting of Messrs. Hanrahan, Crawford, Kearney, Herlihy, and Bleach, elected by the subscribers, was then appointed to carry out the project, the efforts of this committee resulting in the purchase of a new Ford car, latest model, fitted with Boston pull start, and repaint. The presentation took place at the presbytery on December 31, when the members of the committee spoke of the many excellent qualities of Father McMullan, and expressed the hope that he would be long spared to enjoy robust health and every blessing to continue his good work amongst the people. Father McMullan thanked the committee for their trouble in the matter and the people for such a beautiful and useful gift,- and. not only for the gift, but most particularly of his appreciation of the excellent spirit which existed between priest and people. Father McMullan had. the first run in his car to Naseby to celebrate Mass at 8 o'clock, and then to Ranfurly for Mass at 10 o'clock, and after both Masses spoke most feelingly and thankfully to the people for their handsome gift.
