UNREST IN THE DARK CONTINENT
r r i Every part of . Africa has been affected by the great i" conflict. ' ■'.- Egypt has been? the'refuge of hundreds of S thousands of soldiers * and more - than 6000 unfortunate Armenians with '[ thousands -of Jews from Palestine |- (states a report On the Propagation of the Faith). All v North Africa has been r disturbed by the Moslem unrest. German' colonies in the west and south have been captured by ; the Allies and the missionaries sent back •:to» Germany. Warfare is still raging; in German East Africa. Christianity is struggling against Mohammedanism for possession of the natives. More than 8,000,000 are Moslem, and from present indications the number will be increased. Mohammedan merchants are zealous in spreading the teachings of their sect among the natives. The traders from other lands are spreading devilry and hurting the work of ■": our missionaries."lt is a grave question whether Christ or Mohammed will prevail over African ignorance, fetichism, and sin.
