(From our own correspondent.) January 15. There was a good muster of Hibernians at the last meeting of the local branch of the society, when the installation of officers took place. The following officers were installed by P.P. Bro. Cooney :—President, Bro. Rev. Father Foley; vice-president, Bro. E. P. Curran; secretary, Bro. P. J. Duggan; treasurer, Bro! M. F. Cooney; warden, Bro. R. J. Kay; guardian, Bro. G. Firth; sick visitors, Bros. Peter Connors and J. McMahon. After the installation ceremony, P.P. Bro. Cooney congratulated the various officers on their election. He was sure that as president Rev. Father Foley would infuse enthusiasm into the working 0 f the local branch. The Rev. president-elect had been a zealous and painstaking officer, and he (the speaker) was voicing the opinion of all the members when he stated that they were indebted to the Rev. Father for his past services to the brand), and looked forward to increased activity under his presidency. Bro. Cooney also made feeling reference to Bro. Duggan's connection with the society. No brother had made greater sacrifices or put more solid work into the advancement of Hibernianism in New Zealand than Bro. Duggan, and he was entitled to the lasting gratitude and esteem of each and every member. Father Foley thanked the members for the honor done him, and stated that no greater compliment could be paid to those brothers who have been managing the affairs of the society than to refer them to the progress made by the local branch in the last few years. Bro. Duggan and the other officers suitably acknowledged their election to office.
