Wanganui

(By telegraph, from our own correspondent.) October 10. The devotion of the Forty Hours’ Adoration commenced on last Friday and was brought to a close on Sunday. Rev. Father Gilbert (St. Patrick’s College, Wellington) preached the occasional sermon. On Sunday evening there was a procession of the Blessed Sacrament in which all the parish societies -took part. About 800 approached Holy Communion, the sight being a most edifying one. Father Gilbert preached a striking sermon from the text— ‘ Be mindful, O Lord of Thy servants who are gone before us with the sign of faith and rest in the sleep of peace.’
