ROLL OF HONOR
RIFLEMAN JOHN B. SULLIVAN, TIMARU. Mr. John Sullivan, William St., Timaru, has received the sad news of the death of his son. Rifleman John B. Sullivan, who was killed in action on May 31.
Tie was born in Timaru in 1889, and was educated at the Marist Brothers' School. On leaving school, he took up employment in the New Zealand Railways. At the time of enlisting he was stationed at Marton, and left with the Tenth Reinforcements. Mr. Sullivan has two other sons at the front, both of whom went through the Gallipoli campaign.—R.l.P. PRIVATE JAMES S. RYAN, PUKEHINAU. A military funeral was accorded the late Private fames S. Ryan, who died at the military camp, Featherston. Prior to the remains being removed from the camp, to be conveyed by special train to Dannevirke for interment, Rev. Captain-Chaplain Segrief paid a well-deserved tribute to the high character of the deceased, who died a holy and happy death. A detachment of men from the camp and the band ,of the Fifteenth Reinforcements accompanied the remains to Dannevirke, and the latter, with the local band, played the solemn music incidental to such a sad occasion, as the funeral cortege proceeded to the cemetery. x The funeral was conducted by the military authorities. The Rev. Captain-Chaplain Segrief, assisted by the Rev. Father Bowe, officiated at the graveside. A squad of men from- the camp fired the customary volleys at the completion of the interment, and a trumpeter sounded the ' Last Post.' Sincere sympathy is felt for Mr. and Mrs. Ryan in their bereavement.—R.l.P.
