LETTER FROM THE BISHOP OP AUCKLAND. The'Right Rev. Dr. Brodie, prior to his consecration, received the following letter from his Lordship Bishop Cleary: 'My dear . Lord Bishop,—l deeply regret that, .having caught a feverish epidemic now prevalent among adults here, I am prevented by my medical attendant from going to Christchurch for the happy day of your consecration. I shall, however, be with you in spirit. In spirit I will kiss your dear consecrated hands; and,* with ail my heart, I will pray that; the Holy Spirit-of God may give you a fruitful career in the episcopate, .and length of years filled to the brim with heaven's best blessings for you and for the priests and people of the diocese of Christchurch. ' I remain, my dear Lord Bishop, Always faithfully and affectionately yours,, - ' * Henry W. Cleary, •,■;.' ' Bishop of Auckland.'
