Timaru
(From our own correspondent.) February 28. The members of St. Anne’s Guild held their monthly meeting on Sunday afternoon. There was a, full attendance of members, and much important business was transacted. As the Papal Delegate was unable to pay a visit to Timaru, the Very Rev. Dean Tubman took'with him to Christchurch, to present to his Excellency a handsomely-bound album with views of the different buildings of the parish, arid containing an address expressing to his Excellency the loyalty and devotion of the Catholics of Timaru. The album was beautifully and artistically illuminated, and was the work of one of the nuns of the Convent of the Sacred Heart here. Mr. Phil. Lynch, third son of Mr. T. W. Lynch, who is at present in the architectural branch of the Civil Service, Wellington, has passed the Senior Public Service examination. In December last he sat for and passed the Solicitor’s General Knowledge examination, and he also matriculated. IJe passed the Junior Civil Service from the Marist Brothers’ School, Timaru, three years ago. s As in previous years, a national Irish concert is to be given in the Theatre on the evening of St. Patrick’s Day. This year singers are to be present from Dunedin -and Christchurch, in addition to the very best local talent. -
