TO THE FALLEN

There are graves—our heroes’ graves Where the blue Aegean V waves Break on far Gallipoli. There they fought and there they died, Friends -and comrades side by side— Silent watchers by the sea.
There shall be tearsmothers’ tears And the prayers of saddened years For the sleepers on the strand. Peace be to them evermore^
