The annual meeting of the A.M.D.G. Guild will be held at 3.30 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, at the residence of Mrs. J. W. Kennedy, Bellevue street, Roslyn. All members are requested to attend. There was Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at St. Joseph's Cathedral on Sunday from the last Mass until after Vespers, when there was the usual procession, followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Advice has been received from the local secretary that Miss Hyacinth Collins, of Invercargill, a pupil of St. Dominic's College, is the winner of the Associated Board's silver medal for' pianoforte, advanced grade (local centre), gaining 136 marks. * Mr. F. W. Petre received news by last week's mail that his son, Lieutenant G. H. Petre, has once more been promoted, and is now a captain in the 2nd Suffolk Regiment. Captain Petre joined the Suffolks eight months ago, and this is his third promotion. ' The local branch of the Red Cross Society intend to have a street collection on February 1.8 in aid of the funds for the purchase of materials. At the request of the promoters, Mrs. Jackson and the members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will have a stand on the occasion at the Government Life Insurance corner. , - " Pupils of St. Dominic's College, Dunedin, have passed examinations as follows: Matriculation, Medical Preliminary, and Solicitors' General Knowledge Elizabeth Miller. Father Coffey, Adm., Mr. J. Hally occupied the chair. The Rev. Fathers Delany, Corcoran, and D. O'Neill were present. The hon. secretary (Mr. James Airey) reported that the arrangements with the Railway Dept. to take picnickers to Wingatui Racecourse (kindly lent by the Dunedin Jockey Club) on Saturday, March 4, were completed. The. fares are to beChildren, 9d; senior scholars, Is; adults, Is 6d. The Kaikorai Band have been engaged, and will materially help to enliven the proceedings. Hot water and milk will be provided free of charge. A sub-committee to draw up a sports programme and purchase prizes was set up, consisting of Rev. Brother O'Ryan, Messrs. J. Salmon, J. Airey, and Fogarty, Mesdames Jackson and Stone. To help in defraying the expenses a charge of 6d admission will be made to those who travel otherwise than by the excursion train. CATHOLIC SEWING GUILD. The Catholic Sewing Guild for Belgian Relief resumed work on Wednesday, after the Christmas holidays. Some splendid parcels of clothing were sent in, and it is hoped that others will show their interest in the work by "sending contributions of either, clothing or money. They will in this way help the ' guild -to continue its good work. The following contributions were received:—Mrs. P. Brown, 4s; and clothing from Mrs. Hally, Miss Whelan, Miss Graves, Miss Cotter, Mrs. Mowat, Mrs. Brown, Miss Connor, Mrs. Emery, and the Dominican ; Convent, Oamaru.
