Invercargill

(From our own correspondent.) One of the oldest parishioners in this district, in the person of Mrs. McNamara, left. Invercargill last week for Christchurch, where she intends to stay with her son, Mr. John McNamara, who some time ago took over the business of Messrs. Thomas Gapes and Co. in that city. It is with regret that I record the death of Mrs. Mary Shepherd, the wife of Mr. Stephen S. Shepherd, of Princes street, South Invercargill. The deceased lady was a native of King's County, Ireland, and was an old and respected resident of Invercargill. For some considerable time before her death she suffered a very painful illness, which she bore with fortitude and resignation. She passed away on October 11, after having received the consolation of the last rites of the Church. During her illness she was constantly attended by the Rev. Father Woods, who also officiated at the graveside. She leaves three daughters and two sons to mourn their loss, and to them is extended the sympathy of a wide circle of friends.—R.l.P.
