MISS FAGAN’S MUSIC SCHOOL, WELLINGTON
The annual concert and breaking-up ceremony of Miss Fagan’s (one of our Catholic young ladies) music class took place on Monday evening, December 14, at St. Cuthbert’s Church Schoolroom, Berhampore, a large number of parents and friends (writes our Wellington correspondent) enjoying the interesting programme of music provided by the following pupils:- duets, Misses Doris McCardle and Millie Fisher, Eileen Mullaney and. Irene Yeatts, Maude Browne and Edna Emerson, Madge Janson and Beatrice Emerson, Master Lennox McPhee and Miss Eileen Gunnion ; piano solos, Misses Maude Browne, Doris McCardle, Doris Bamforth, Beatrice Emerson, Mollie Fisher, Madge Janson, Edna Emerson, Masters Rodney Pankhurst and Lennox McPhee ; songs, Master Rodney Pankhurst, Miss Doris Bamforth f recitations, Masters Eric Fisher and Eric Pankhurst, and Miss Mollie Fisher. ' Mrs. Emerson, L.T.C.L., acted as accompanist. The report for the class for the year disclosed very successful results, inas much as one of the pupils (Master Rodney Pankhurst) secured honors for both singing and playing, and he also secured the ‘ Martha Myers ’ gold medal awarded by the Trinity College. The following pupils secured passes iii the Trinity College examinations: —Misses" Mollie Fisher, Edna* Emerson, Madge Janson, Irene Yeatts, Eileen Mullaney, Doris Bamforth, and Master Lennox McPhee, whilst Miss Beatrice Emerson secured a pass in the Royal Academy of Music. All the proceeds were devoted to the Belgian relief fund, and in this amount the sale of sweets —the sweets stall was in charge of the Misses Lilias and Hettie Christie, Alice Crease, and Edna Wylie— notably. Three small pupils, Doris Bamforth and Stuart and Harvey Emerson, gathered many coppers by their singing of ‘ Please give me a penny,’ and this, too, supplemented the donation.
