Yes erday morning at the 7.30 Mass the members of the .Hibernian Society approached the Holy Table in regalia. .. i During the past week his Lordship Bishop Grimes paid his episcopal visit to the parish. He administered the Sacrament of Confirmation here on Sunday, the Feast of All Saints, on Tuesday morning in St. Andrews, and at the. convent on Thursday morning. The children of the girls’ school assembled on Wednesday afternoon to express to his Lordship their pleasure at having him once more in their midst after his severe illness. A short musical programme was submitted, including musical items both vocal and instrumental, recitations, drills, and a dialogue of welcome. The Bishop expressed his pleasure at the very excellent programme, and spoke a few kindly words of encouragement and advice, fc’ * te On Monday evening in the girls’ school hall a welcome social was tendered to his Lordship the Bishop. There was a short musical programme and an address of welcome was read by Mr. T. Quinn on behalf of the parishioners, and another by Mr. J. Leigh from the members of the Catholic Federation, it being'the -first visit of his Lordship since the Federation was inaugurated here. The Bishop, in a short speech, thanked all for their kind wishes, and gave an interesting account of his recent travels and of his visit to our late Holy Father. . . Sit On .the St. John’s Courts on Thursday a friendly ’ match was played between teams representing St. John’s and Te Kara Tennis Clubs. , All the games were very evenly contested, and despite the threatening weather a, very enjoyable time was spent. During the interval the ladies of St. John’s Club dispensed afternoon tea. 7 In the convent chapel on Wednesday morning a s Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated for the repose of ; the I soul of the late Rev. Mother-General of the Society. His Lordship the Bishop was present in the sanctuary, Very Rev. -Dean Tubman was celebrant, Rev. Fathers / Aubrey and Goggan deacon and subdeacon respectively, ; Rev. Fathers Kerley and, Dignan deacon and subdeacon at the throne, and Rev. ' Father Murphy master of ceremonies. The music of ‘the Mass was rendered in a very devotional manner by the convent choir. The panegyric was preached by his Lordship Bishop Grimes. 1
