(By telegraph, from our own correspondent.) ■ ■•i‘ "• ■ * November 9. • • A most ■ successful sacred concert was held in the school hall on Wednesday evening last in aid of the church funds. The hall was full, and keen appreciation was shown of the programme submitted. The ladies assisting were Misses Carrigan, Casey, Lanigan, McCafferty, and Desmond, and Messrs. Price, McKenna, Ford, Bourke, Wright, and Egan also contributed'excellent numbers to the programme. Misses Frost and Jones and Mr. Price were the accompanists. Next. Sunday is to be observed as ‘Belgian Sunday. 1 ’ Special addresses will be given at all the Masses, and collections will be taken up for the Belgian relief fund. Mr. Thomas Frost, one of our most exemplary Catholics, died suddenly on Sunday morning in the Mater Hospital. He was always prominent in Church matters, and most charitable to the poor. R.I.P. . The annual inspection of St. Joseph’s School took place early last month, and the following is Inspector McKenzie’s report:-—‘ This school is taught and managed with conspicuous enthusiasm and ability. The schemes of work have been carefully and skilfully prepared. The methods of teaching in all classes are modern - and effective, and the high standard of the pupils’ work reflects great credit upon the head teacher and her loyal staff. Industry, zeal, and harmony are apparent in every department of the school. The conduct of the pupils and the tone of the school are exemplary.’
