OBITUARY

MRS. BRIDGET MOLONEY, DUNEDIN. We have to record the death of Mrs. Moloney a well-known member of the Catholic community of Dunedin, she having lived in the city for forty years. The deceased was a strong personality, remarkably broadminded, open-hearted, of a kindly disposition, and, above all, charitable. Her death was not unexpected, as Rev. Father Moloney, the youngest son, was called from Wanganui four weeks ago, and he remained with his mother, comforting and consoling her during that time, till she passed peacefully away on Wednesday, September 9. On Friday morning a Solemn Requiem Mass was, celebrated at 8 o’clock at St. Joseph’s Cathedral for the repose of the soul of the deceased. Rev. Father Moloney, S.M., was celebrant, assisted by Rev. Father Herring, S.M. (Tcmuka) deacon, Father Corcoran subdeacon, and Rev. Father Coffey, A dm. Rev. Fathers Delany and O’Neill (South Dunedin) and Rev. Father Buckley were also in the sanctuary. The Gregorian music was rendered by the'choir of the Dominican Nuns. A large number of relatives and friends assembled to pay their last tributes of respect, among them being Inspector Dwyer of Christchurch. Immediately after the celebration of Mass, the funeral left for the Southern Cemetery, where the Rev. Father Moloney officiated at the graveside. Mrs. Moloney left a family of seven— John and Denis Moloney, Father Moloney, Mrs. T. O’Brien, and the Misses Moloney (3) ; also twelve grand-children, and one great grand-child.-
