GRAY—REIDY. A quiet but pretty wedding took place at St. Joseph's Cathedral, Dunedin, on July 22, when Mr. James Gray, only son of Mr. J. Gray, Dunedin, was united in the bonds of Matrimony to Mary (Mollie), youngest daughter of the late Mr. William Reidy, of Lawrence. he bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. J. C. Reidy (Invercargill), looked charming in a cream silk dress trimmed with guipure lace and pearls. She wore the orthodox wreath and veil of orange blossom, and carried a dainty bouquet of flowers. The bridesmaid (Miss Kathleen Reidy) wore a saxe blue whipcord trimmed with Maltese lace, with white velour hat with white tips. Mr. B. Allen acted as best man. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Buckley. The wedding breakfast was partaken of at the residence of Mr. O. J. Flannery, Castle street-(brother-in-law of the bride), where a large number of guests assembled, and the usual toasts were honored. The bride’s travelling costume was of navy blue hopsaque with red velvet hat trimmed with fur. The bride and bridegroom were the recipients of numerous presents both useful and costly. O’KELLYJENNINGS. At St. Joseph’s Church, New Plymouth, on Tuesday, July 28, a marriage was solemnised between Mr. Thomas O’Kelly, of Tralee, and Miss Bertha Jennings, only daughter of Mr. W. T. Jennings, ex-M.P. for Egmont and Taumarunui. The Nuptial Mass was celebrated by Very Rev. Dean McKenna. The bride was given away by her father, and was attired in a pearl grey cloth costume, with grey velvet hat and white ospreys. The bridesmaid was Miss Queenie Hawkins, of Eltham, and she wore a dainty violet cloth costume, with hat of Oriental silk to match. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. Alfred Jennings. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a gold brooch set with rubies and diamonds; to the bridesmaid, a gold brooch set with pearls and diamonds and to the best man a pair of gold sleeve links. After the ceremony the guests were entertained at ‘ Kia Ora,’ where Dean McKenna proposed the toast of the ‘ Bride and bridegroom,’ saying he had known the bride since she came to New Plymouth as a girl, and admired her for her amiability and devotedness; and also had known the bridegroom since his arrival in New Zealand. The toast of the ‘ Bride’s parents ’ was proposed by Mr. Jas. Hawkins, of Inglewood, who said he had known them for 45 years. Mr. D. Berry and Mr. Chas. Abler also spoke to the toast. Amongst very many valuable presents to the bride was a nice collection of d’oyleys from the Children of Mary, and a beautifully-worked tray from the Rev. Mother and Sisters of the convent. Mr. and Mrs. O’Kelly will reside at Auckland. REA— O’GRADY. There was a quiet but pretty wedding on Wednesday, July 22, 1914, at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Reefton. The contracting parties were Miss M. A. O’Grady, second daughter of Mr. ' and Mrs. W. O’Grady, Waitahu, Reefton, to Mr. J. J. Rea, Waiutu. Rev. Father Galenic performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her brother, was attired in a navy blue costume, with white velvet hat, and was attended by her sister (Miss Norah O’Grady), who wore a fawn costume and white velvet hat, and carried an ivory prayer book. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Louis Pedrazzi as best man. After the ceremony the bridal party proceeded to the residence of the bride, where the wedding breakfast was served. The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a gold albert chain. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a gold bangle set with olivines, and to the bridesmaid a gold dress ring. The happy couple were the recipients of a large number of handsome and useful presents, including many cheques. Later in the afternoon they left by train for Christchurch en route for Dunedin, where the honeymoon was spent.
