NEW ZEALAND CATHOLIC FEDERATION

ARE YOU A MEMBER OF IT? IF NOT, HERE ARE

REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BE

BECAUSE the Pope has blessed Catholic Federations with a special blessing, and the Hierarchy have unanimously expressed their desire that every " Catholic man, woman, and child in New Zealand should become and remain loyal and faithful members. And further it has received the cordial sympathy and support of the whole of our clergy in the Dominion. BECAUSE it is an enlistment of all Catholics in a great Catholic army. BECAUSE it will stand up as a great bulwark for the Christian life of the nation. BECAUSE Catholic Federation is designed to elevate the status of Catholic citizenship. BECAUSE its machinery will reach and bring help to the remotest Catholic household in the land. BECAUSE the Federation aims at the strengthening of all Catholic societies. BECAUSE the main objects of (he Federation are:—To secure for Catholics a just system of education, to circulate Catholic literature, to safeguard Catholic immigrants, to expose statements of antiCatholic slanderers, and to work for the promotion of Catholic interests in general. BECAUSE the Federation is not a party political organisation. It does not exist for the purpose,of promoting religions animosity: on the contrary, it is prepared to act with all good citizens of other denominations in the public welfare. BECAUSE it combats immoral literature, intemperance, and other social evils, and will seek to preserve the sanctity and indissolubility of Christian marriage. BECAUSE the Church and the faith being one, we should be one in their defence. BECAUSE there is in America a. great Federation, representing 15,000,000 Catholics which has accomplished noble work for the Church there. BECAUSE the 24,000,000 Catholics in Germany, through Federation, have secured the Church there against persecution. BECAUSE in England the Catholic Federation has conferred similar benefits. BECAUSE, since the Catholic Church is a mark for perpetual assault, there is need for an instant means of refuting all slanders. BECAUSE the subscription of one shilling each year for adults, and sixpence for children, is so trilling that it is within the means of every Catholic; and enables each member of our community to assist in carrying out. the excellent work of (he Federation.
