(From our own correspondent.) June 13. The 11.A.C.8. Society's social, held in the Drill Hall on Wednesday evening last, proved a decided success. Despite the inclement weather quite a large number of country people attended. The secretary of the social (Mr. L. Dwan) took occasion to thank those present for their attendance, and made special reference to the ladies, who had worked so hard to make Ihe gatTiering a success. Another euchre tournament was held last evening in St. Mary's Club rooms, at which there was a large attendance, over eighty players competing. Mr. T. E. J. Seddon's prize (a silver jewel case) was won by Miss Pascoe, the second prize going to Miss E. Owens. The gentlemen's prizes were won by Mr. T. Downey and Mr. R. Fane. After supper had been handed round by the ladies, Mrs. Richardson sang ' The Star of Bethlehem.' Musical items were also given by Mrs. Bennett, Misses Harvey and Bryne, Messrs. R.'lleyes and Brunsley. The singing of - Auld lang syne' brought to a close a most enjoyable evening.
