The rev. gentleman,'“' who arrived in Melbourne 1868, after laboring in various centres, was appointed in 1881- pastor ■ of ' the then newly-formed parish of Carlton, and has held. that position ever ' since. During his :pastorate at Carlton (says / the Melbourne Tribune') Father - O’Connell has spent: some £25,000 ;on schools, church,\ and presbytery.
