(From our own correspondent.) he following have been added to #the executive committee of St. Mary’s'Young Men’s Club: — Brown, C. Lafferty, L. Lafferty. The sports committee for the year is as follows;Michael McCarthy, John Burke, Charles Brown, Vere Hunt, Oscar Edmonds, Peter Kelly, and Thomas Roach. The committee unanimously elected Mr. McCarthy as their secretary. It was decided to hold the annual picnic at Mr. Moroney’s on March 17. Wanganui (From our own correspondent.) On Friday, January 23, at the close of the annual retreat, which this year was preached by the Rev. Father Herring, S.M., an impressive ceremony took place at the Sacred Heart Convent, Mount St. Joseph ; when two young ladies, Miss McGrath (in religion Sister M. Kevin) and Miss Froude (in religion Sister M. Julian) received the habit and veil of the Sisters of St. Joseph, seven novices made their religious profession. The ceremony was performed by his Grace Archbishop O’Shea, Archbishop of Wellington, assisted by the Rev. Fathers Hickson and O’Sullivan. Very Rev. Dean Holley, Rev. Fathers S. and G. Mahoney, Herring, and Ginisty were also present. His Grace delivered an effective address on the religious life. The music of , the -ceremony, - which terminated with Benediction of the Most Blessed 'Sacrament, was rendered by the convent choir. The community is to be Congratulated on this addition to its staff.
