(From our own correspondent.) November 18. The social evening, held in the schoolroom on Wednesday last, was fairly well attended, despite the prevailing industrial troubles and the lack of trams. Some 60 players joined in the euchre tournament, and after an exciting contest the prizes went to Miss G. Finnerty and Mr. Simmons. A most successful week-end mission for the women of the parish was brought to a close on Sunday afternoon. Rev. Father Tuohey, C.SS.R, opened the mission on Thursday evening, and was assisted throughout by Rev. Fathers Doyle and Kirrane. There were two Masses each morning, and Rosary, sermon, and Benediction in the evenings. All the services were crowded, and some 400 women received Holy Communion. Father Tuohey’s sermons were essentially practical, and everyone appreciated them. The Sunday afternoon service was particularly impressive, closing as it did with the Papal blessing. The beautiful and imposing decorations of the Lady altar were done by the Sisters of St. Joseph. A parochial mission for the men, women, and children of the district will be given here early in January by the Redemptorist Fathers. Ellerslie (From our own correspondent.) November 18. An eminently successful concert, given by the Children of Mary in aid of the Ellerslie Convent Scho6l,"was

held in the parish hall, Ellerslie, on November 17. There was a very large attendance, the hall being packed to the doors. During the evening, Mr. F. G. J. Temm apologised for the absence of the Rev. Father Tormey, who was unable to be present. On behalf of the Rev. Father, he thanked the large audience for their attendance and patronage that evening, and also gratefully acknowledged the efforts of the various artists who contributed so ably to the programme, especially those who came from a distance at some personal inconvenience and sacrifice to assist the good cause. The following contributed to the programme; Songs— Boyle, Misses Barrett, Pemberton, and Sylvia, Messrs. Lonergan, Egan, and Owens; pianoforte items— Leach, Misses Sexton, Taylor, ' Temm, Shearman, and McCaffery; recitations J. Sexton and Miss Vera Derrum. A pretty fancy tambourine drill was contributed by the convent pupils, and a tableau, entitled ‘ Ora Pro Nobis,’ with Miss McCaffery as the 1 Orphan,’ was given under the direction of Miss M. Pohlen. This item was well received by the audience, who expressed their appreciation of the excellent training of the girls by the Sisters of the Mission. A special word of praise is due to little Miss Leach, a talented young musician of nine years of age, and a pupil of the local Sisters.
