"'When entertaining some school children at her •country house a certain famous spinster took them round the rooms and pointed out the beautiful things in them. ■* This/ she said, indicating a statue, ‘is Minerva.' ‘Was Minerva married?' asked one of the little girls. ‘No, my child,’ said the spinster, with a smile; ‘Minerva was the Goddess of Wisdom.’ ;
