NOT VERY COMPLIMENTARY
Once whilst travelling, a well-known irascible scientist was exceedingly annoyed by a pedantic bore who forced himself upon him, and made a great parade of his learning. The scientist stood it as long as he could, and at length, looking at him gravely, said: ‘My friend, you and I know all that is to be known.’ How is that V said the man, pleased with what he thought a complimentary association, Why/ said the scientist, ‘you know everything except that you are a fool, and I know that.’
