(From our own correspondent.)

December 30. - The Masses on Christmas-Day were largely attended, most of the congregation at the early Masses receiving Holy Communion. Rev. Father A. Venning celebrated the 11 o’clock Mass, and the choir sang Gounod’s Mass of St. Cecilia. Miss E. Dennehy presided at the organ. At the 11 o’clock Mass yesterday, the Rev. Father Murphy delivered an impressive discourse on the necessity of making the most of the time at the disposal of the individual. The Marist Brothers have left for their annual retreat now being held, in Auckland. The many friends of the Rev. Brother Egbert will hear with regret that he has met with a serious injury to his right hand while at the Sacred Heart College, Auckland.
