CONVENT HIGH SCHOOL, NAPIER.

(From our own correspondent.) The annual -concert of the Sisters of the Mission/ Girls' High School took- place on Wednesday, December ; 11, in the presence of an exceedingly large attendance of parents and friends of the pupils. The programme gone" through was well up to the high standard set by S the school in former years, and showed once ; again' that l; the good 1 Sisters are certainly capable of producing the best results from those placed in their charge. • The list aof items rendered was of too even a standard of "excel- ■■-} lence to . call for any special praise being bestowed on ' any rparticular^, number. The audience showed: their i appreciation by frequent applause. The following was the/ programme: —Overture, ' Maritana/ school orchestra; Violins---Misses M. Cassin, K. - Holder,D. Steven, K. O'Donoghue. r At the conclusion of the programme the Rev. Father o'Sullivan congratulated the pupils on their brilliant entertainment, and the Sisters oh : the careful tuition of them. He welcomed in their midst his Worship the Mayor (Mr. Vigor Brown) who, he de- : clared, had always been happy to in any way render assistance to the Catholic schools and ') to the people of the parish when needed. As an instance of the high state of the school in matters Catholic, i he mentioned that the prize for Christian doctrine amongst the senior pupils had to be drawn for by ten pupils, who had all received a like number of marks. # Mr Vigor Brown, M.P., who was loudly applauded on rising to speak, expressed; his pleasure oh being once more a guest of the convent. He congratulated the Sisters on their work, the pupils on their success during the school year, and expressed his admiration of the self-sacrifice made by the Catholic people in keeping up their schools. Mr. Brown mentioned that his firm had Catholic/school girls amongst their employees, and assured his listeners that they were a credit to the school, to the firm, and to themselves. He wished the children every happiness during their Chrsitmas holidays. Amongst those present were Very Rev. Dean Smyth, Meeanee, Rev.
