Onehunga

(From our Auckland correspondent.) A representative meeting of the parishioners of Onehunga was held on Sunday, July 14. The purport, of the meeting was to devise ways and means of liquidating a ciei t incurred in connection with alterations in the schools and extensive draining at the schools, presbytery, and convent. Rev. Father Golden produced vouchers and read a statement of accounts covering all the works already completed. Quoting the authority of the city inspector and of Mr. George Cutts, the local inspector, he was able to assure the meeting that the whole scheme was carried out in a most satisfactory manner. Though the works were expensive, it was a matter of the utmost importance and satisfaction to have them commended by the inspectors. The result of the meeting, which was very enthusiastic, was the election of a strong and popular committee to make a general canvass for funds. Messrs. McGahan, Duggan, Donovan, Patten, McCarten, Shaldrick, Mahoney, and McLaughlin were unanimously elected to carry out the will of the meeting. It is expected that the debt will be liquidated in three months.
