Palmerston North
(From our own correspondent.) : February 11 Rev. Fathers Costello and Kehoe, who have been spending the last, few weeks in Rotorua and the north, returned during the past week very much benefited by the change. • J Rev. Father Dore, who has been assisting here for some months past, has been given charge of the extensive mission of Raikoura. During h’s residence amongst us Father Dore has shown the greatest interest in all matters in connection with this important parish, particularly in the sodalities, and will be much missed by old and young alike. He will carry with him our best wishes for his future labors. Rev. Father Doolaghty who arrived during the holidays,'takes up Father Dore’s work in this parish. St. Patrick s Day next will be fittingly observed in Palmerston North. The Hibernians, .1 understand, have appointed a strong committee, which will deal with the day’s festivities and sport. A separate committee is arranging for the evening portion of the programme, when a grand national exhibition of pictures with vocal items, will be given in the Zealandia Hall! Hayward s Orchestra willgive selections of Irish music with suitable songs for the occasion. „ ’ The Convent high school opened with a number of new pupils on February 1, and has provision for some forty boarders.
