; The action of the directors of the Northern Wairoa Dairy Company in endeavouring to start a cow-testing association is meeting with good support, and it is fully expected that ere long the scheme will be an actuality. As a result of a good season and , the exceptional prices secured for dairy outputs, it is stated that prices of land in southern Taranaki will advance £5 per acre by the end of the season. The best land is now commanding £SO to £65 per acre. The following is a copy of a recent by-law in connection with the consigning of goods on the railway which is of interest to the trading community • Every person consigning goods for carriage upon a railway on behalf of two or more persons or firms shall make a separate consignment-note in respect of the goods of each of those persons or firms, and shall disclose on every such consignment-note the person or firm on whose behalf he so consigns the said goods. • Any person who commits a breach of this by-law shall be liable to a fine of ten pounds.
