The annual concert in aid of St. Patrick’s School, Lawrence, by the pupils of the Dominican Nuns took place on December 9. _ There was a very large attendance, all parts 7Wnffiv° U^ lng \ dlS An Ct fi beng well represented (says the luapeha limes). All the items of the programme were contributed by children ranging from about six years to fifteen yeais, and, taking this circumstance into consideration, it must be said that all present had every reason to be well satisfied with the entertainment provided, while the teachers must be complimented upon the perfect manner in which their little pupils acquitted themselves. In the {list part tne most picturesque item was undoubtedly the kindergarten performance, in which about a dozen very wee tots took part. They were beautifully dressed and went through a series of intricate movements in a most graceful manner The dumb-bell exercises by a class of boys was also a fine item, the boys in the movements all keeping excellent time to the music. In the second part of the programme the cantata, ‘Judgment of the Flowers,’ gave the older th? n an i opp ? l tu ” 1 { ; y of displaying their elocutionary abilities and incidentally of acting a part, while the younger girls again appeared as flower fairies and delighted the audience with the graceful manner in which they performed their respective parts. Miss P. Higgins must-be complimented upon her recitation, ‘ The bivouac fire ’ ll also must be the children who took part in the various instrumental items.
