DIOCESE OF DUNEDIN

The parish schools re-open on Monday next. Holy Cross College, Mosgicl, will re-open on Tuesday, February 15, and all students are expected to return to the college punctually on that date. The annual retreat of the clergy of the diocese began at Holy Cross College, Mosgiel, on Monday, and is being conducted by the Rev. Father Hunt, C.SS.R. . Advice has been received that Mr. V. D. Griffen, of Dunedin, has obtained the degrees of L.R.C.P. andL.R.C.S. at the Edinburgh -University. Dr. Griffen is an ‘ old boy ’ of the Christian Brothers’ School, Dunedin. Mr. J. Collins, son of Mr. James Collins, of Invercargill, and Mr. L. Mcßride, of Queenstown, both of whom are ‘old boys’ of the Christian Brothers’ School, Dunedin, have passed their final examinations for the degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the Otago University. The Rev. Father Coffey, Adm., presided on Sunday evening in St. Joseph’s Hall at a meeting held for the purpose of making arrangements for the annual St. Patrick’s Day entertainment. A strong committee was appointed to make the necessary arrangements.
