(From our own correspondent.) The Redemporist Fathers open a week's mission here on Sunday next.

Lhe newly-formed St. Mary's Tennis Club have completed arrangements whereby they have the use of the asphalt courts in the local Domain. The club anticipate holding their opening day shortly, and with the combined enthusiasm of the club's president (Mr. M. J Burgess) and the captain (Mr. Frank Pritchard) a most successful season seems assured.

The Catholic Club at their last weekly meeting spent th.c evening in a debate, ' Should bachelors be taxed ? ' The president (Mr. Frank Pritchard) occupied the chair and there was a good attendance of members. Mr. T. m! Brophy led off for the affirmative side, Mr. M. J. Moriarty for -the negative. Several other members took part in the debate. On a vote being taken, the opponents of taxation were declared the winners.
