(From our- own correspondent.)
The art union got up under the superintendence of Rev. Father Keiley, in aid of the new church fund, netted the fine total of £260.
A concert was held in the Assembly Rooms on Thursday evening last, the art union for the new church being drawn at the finish of the programme. The musical part of the entertainment was got up by Miss E. Dennehy, A.T.C.L., who gave a neatly executed pianoforte solo and also accompanied the singers. Songs were acceptably rendered by Messrs. Jordan and Rawlinson, and Mesdames J. G. Yenning and Austin. A recitation by Master O'Meeghan and short items by some of the school lads concluded a capital programme. The drawing took place under the superintendence of Mr. James Craigie, M.P., and Mr. F. Raymond. The Rev. Father Tubman took advantage of a short interval to thank all those who had helped in any- way to make the venture so eminently successful. He made special mention of Rev. Father Kerley, who had taken up the onerous, duties of secretary, and Mi 1 . Mangos, his assistant.
