A meeting of the St. Vincent de Paul Society will be held on Friday afternoon.

The good results of the mission at St. Joseph's Cathedral were seen on Easter Sunday morning: when unusually large numbers approached the Holy Table at the early Masses, this being particularly the case at 7.30 o'clock, when nearly the whole of a crowded congregation of the men of the parish received Holy Communion.

The missions conducted by the Redemptorist Fathers throughout the diocese of Dunedin for the past six months, with a short 'interval at Christmas, were concluded on Sunday, when the closing ceremonies took place at St. Joseph's Cathedral, St. Patrick's Basilica (feoutfo Duned-m), and St. Mary's Church (Port Chalmers) . ,„ .p\ Ringing the mission to a close at St. Joseph's 1 on Suntla y evening Rev. Father ÜbS.R. earnestly exhorted the men of the congregation to join one or more of the confraternities 'or societies connected with the parish, such as the Sacred Heart Society* the Hibernian Society, the Catholic Men s Club, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

On Tuesday evening last the Children of -Mary held their annual social at St. Joseph's schoolroom, when advantage was taken of the occasion to present their late president, Miss Falkner, with a silver cake-basket in connection with her approaching marriage. At St. Joseph's Cathedral on Easter Sunday there were the usual early Masses, .and Solemn High Mass at eleven o'clock, which was celebrated by the Rev Father Corcoran, Rev. Father Cleary deacon, Key' Father Lowham, C.SS.R., subdeacon, and Re v . Father Coney, Adm., master of ceremonies. ihe occasional sermon was preached by the Rev. Father McDermott, U.bb.R. The music of the Mass, Gounod's No. 3, was excellently rendered by the choir, Mr. Vallis presiding at the organ. The decorations, which were confined to 'the high altar, were in excellent taste, and reflected great credit on the ladies responsible for the work. At laree o'clock there w a s Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament for the women of the parish, and' in the evening the dosing exercises of the mission for the men, took place. The Rev. Father lowham preached a very impressive discourse dealing with the means to be adopted to avoid sin and ■ preserve the fruits of the- mission-. The ceremonies concluded with the Papal blessing.

The renewal mission for the men of the parish was continued during the week at St. Joseph's, Cathedral On Thursday evening the sermon on the Blessed Eucharist was preached by the Rev.
