Miss Mitchell's Concert
The yery unfavorable weather, and counter attractions malatated somewhat against the presence of a large audience at the Garrison Hall on Wednesday evening of last, week, om the occasion of Miss Mitchell's concert. What the audience lacked in numbers they • made up by the flattering reception given to Miss Mitchell, whose contriboitions to - + -he programme were a recitative - and aria, • Le Nozze di Figaro,' an * Aye Maria' (Bach-Gounod), « Adelita, ' (Juncker), 'Good-bye' (Topti), all" of which met with the hearty appreciation of those present. In every instance Miss Mitchell was honored with an emphatic recall, and her encore numbers met with even a better reception than her programme items. She has a soprano voice of good range whilst, her enunciation is remarkably distinct— a .quality which is very oftlen lacking; in the singing of many' artists. During the evening she was the recipient of ' several floral offerings. The other contributors to the" programme were Miss Viola Styles, who sang « Home Song ' andi c Dream; Ansel,.' Mr. J. A. Wallace (violjn solos),. Mr. Percy James (Humorous songs), Mr. Osborne (recitation), and the Kaikorai Band (overtures) The accompaniments were played by Messrs. Vallis and Bennell.
