The death is announced of Rev. Thomas Leahy, S.J., who passed away at i St. Vincent's- Hospital, Melbourne, on February 11, after, a .few days' illness. Fa•^rhjr Leahy was born in Ballinasloe, Gal way, in 1846. He pursued his course of philosophy .and theology in til 3 Jesuit colleges of France and Belgium. At the College- of the Immaculate ] Conception, Summer Hill, Athlone, Co. Roscommon, he had as fellow students Rev. M. Wajtscn, S. J. ; Sir Antony MacDonnell, now Under-Secretary for Ireland- ; and Mr. T. P. O'Connor, M.P. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1865. He srent over 20 years teaching in the colleges of his Order in Sydney- and Melbourne, and In 1890, was appointed rector of St. Patrick's College, East Melbourne. He ceased his rectorship of this college in Jvne, 1896, but was for a number of years a member of the professorial staff.
