ODDS AND ENDS
A story of a North Island county council is going the round ot the newspapers. The scene is laid in , the coujncil chamber, and two couhty councillors are the dramatis personae. The rest must be given in dramatic form: First Councillor : ' The acoustics are very bad here.' , Second do (sniffing) :-' Indeed ! I don't smell anything ! ' ' . - '> ** Gentleman (indignantly) : ' When I bought this dog you said he was splendid" for the rats. Why r he won't touch them.' Dog Dealer : * Well, isn't that splendid flo* the rats ? ' Grateful patient :' Doctor,, how can I ever repay you for your . kindness to me ? ' Doctor : c Doesn't matter, old man. Cheque, . money order, or cash.'
