The weekly meeting of the Catholic Club was held last Friday, the programme consisting of a debate on the subject : lls professionalism detrimental to true sport ? r The Rev,. Father O'Neill occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance. Some of the speakers irade their initial effort at debating, and acquitted themselves well. Mr. E. Curran led on the affirmative side,- and Mr. J. Cagney, jun., on the negative, both gentlemen showing a good grasp of the question, and delivering excellent opening addresses. These were followed by Messrs. J. Molloy, C. Molloy, F. Cooney, and J. Griffiths (affirmative), and Messrs. Jf . Mulvihill, J. Wallace, E. Barry, and J. Ardagh (negative). On the question being put to the meeting the voting was in favor of the negative side by a small majority. Next Friday a mock banquet will be held.
